Before buying these, I made the MISTAKE of buying a different “low cost” metal ball mount, thinking “metal is better”. Man, that was wrong. What I received was a piece of junk, roughly made, difficult to use, wouldn’t tighten or hold properly, and the threads on the locking knob stripped my first day of struggling to use it (because I was forced to over-tighten it, but also because the metal was quite soft/cheap I am sure). So, enter these little guys… For LESS money than I wasted on that “cheap” metal ball head cost, I got a 4-pack of these. They are a PLEASURE to use and hold ROCK TIGHT. And I have four of them! These guys are put together very differently from those cumbersome multi-part metal mounts that seem to come loose at the slightest adjustment. With these, you simply screw it on to your stand, plate, etc. (standard 1/4-20 threads on bottom) and then screw on your equipment until it is firmly snug against the soft (and slightly grippy) integral rubber pad — which doesn’t rotate/tighten on its own (but doesn’t need to, more on this later). Then, you fully loosen the locking knob (which is very easy to use) and rotate your equipment (in any/all directions) into the desired position. With a couple turns of the knob (just until you feel the initial resistance) your equipment is starting to be held firm — but can still be “smoothly” adjusted (thanks to the high-strength reinforced plastic-to-plastic ball socket). Finally, with a couple/few more turns of the locking knob (still very easy, you don’t need to hurt your fingers with these), the ball is locked… held absolutely rock tight. The lock knob works by clamping the socket down all around the ball (since the plastic socket can slightly flex), so the hold is uniform and strong. These actually make adjusting a pleasure… it is easy, and feels smooth! You focus on getting just the right position, rather than the mount being difficult and/or falling apart.Absolutely brilliant design! Don’t be fooled by the price, this product is super simple, super effective, and actually MANY times better than the (often more expensive) options.

It will work but it’s very cheap and all plastic. The stiffness seems to hold my tube lights. So far no issues. I did think these would be better quality though.

I really like this mini ball mount! It works w/ trail cameras that have 1/4” mounting holes and can be modified with a 3”x1/4”x 20 hanger bolt, 1/4” washer & 1/4” nut (all sold separately) to screw directly into a tree. It is completely adjustable in all directions and tightens down really well. It is made mostly of plastic, but don’t let that discourage you … it should do well when left outdoors year-round with a trail camera mounted to it. It is very practical!I will definitely be buying more and recommend this product, especially for trail camera users that want to eliminate their mounting straps and are looking to make their camera sets more versatile.
